Privacy policy

Short version: Ravaran sets no cookies, uses no analytics, loads nothing from third-party servers and does not know who you are unless you write to us.

2. Hosting and server logs

This site is hosted in the European Union. The web server writes the usual access log for each request: the shortened IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page, the status code and the browser identification. These entries serve the security and stability of the service, are based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR and are deleted after seven days at the latest. They are not merged with other data and are not used to profile visitors.

3. No cookies, no tracking

We set no cookies of any kind. There is no analytics software, no tag manager, no advertising pixel and no social media plug-in. No fonts, scripts, maps or images are loaded from third-party servers; everything on this site is served from our own domain, which is why you never see a consent banner here.

4. Local storage for the tools

The tools and the quiz store your inputs in the local storage of your own browser, under keys beginning with ravaran:, so that a pack list or a payload calculation survives a page reload. This data never leaves your device, is not readable by us and can be deleted at any time in your browser settings. If your result appears in the address bar as a link, that link is generated in your browser and is only shared if you send it to somebody.

5. Contact form and e-mail

If you use the contact form we process the name, e-mail address and message you enter, in order to answer you, on the basis of Article 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR. The message reaches us by e-mail and is stored in our mailbox and in a log file on the server. We delete enquiries once they are dealt with and no retention period requires otherwise, usually within twelve months. The same applies to e-mail you send us directly.

6. Field notes by e-mail

If you subscribe to our occasional field notes we store your e-mail address and the time of the subscription in order to send them, on the basis of your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. Every message contains an unsubscribe link; after you unsubscribe the address is deleted.

7. Reader polls

Votes in a reader poll are stored without an identifier. To limit obvious multiple voting we save a shortened, one-way hash of your IP address together with the current month, from which your address cannot be recovered. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

8. Your rights

You have the right to information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability and to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and you may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. Write to info@ravaran.com. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority, for us the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen.

9. Changes

We update this policy when the site changes. This version is from September 2026.
