About Ravaran
Ravaran is an independent adventure and outdoor magazine. We write about driving, riding, camping and travelling beyond the tarmac, and we build tools that give a number instead of a mood board.
Why Ravaran
Adventure media has two failure modes. One is the brochure: sunlit vehicles on empty dunes and nothing about what the trip cost, weighed or required. The other is the forum: ten thousand words of argument about tyre brands and no way for a newcomer to tell what matters. Ravaran sits between them. We explain the mechanism, name the number, and say plainly when the honest answer is that it depends.
How we choose what to publish
Every subject has to pass three tests. It has to still be true in five years, which rules out most product launches. It has to be explainable without jargon, or with jargon we translate on the spot. And it has to be within reach of somebody with a normal vehicle, a normal budget and some patience, which is why a twenty year old diesel appears next to a purpose-built expedition truck.
No paid placements
Makers cannot buy a mention, a ranking or a place in a tool. Where we work with a manufacturer or an organiser on a story, the page says so in the text, not in a disclosure nobody reads. There is no affiliate tracking on this site and no advertising network. If that ever changes, this page changes first.
Safety, and the limits of a magazine
Remote travel carries real risk. Everything here is written for people who will still make their own judgement on the day, in front of the actual river, the actual dune, the actual weather. A tool that says a crossing is within your vehicle's wading depth is doing arithmetic, not standing in the water. Train with people who know more than you, travel with a second vehicle where it matters, and turn around earlier than your pride suggests.

Nothing you type is sent to us. Results are yours to share as a link or a picture, or to keep to yourself.
